WINE TASTING FOR FUN (Group 1)

Group 1 includes, mostly, the “originals”, who met for the first time just once before the first pandemic lockdown. Through the following months we sipped and discussed on Zoom and now, more than four years later, the same twelve members - the maximum possible in our venue - gather each month, with a tasting theme for each meeting.

We are by no means wine experts. Our main aim is to share the enjoyment of wine and make new friends, while learning a little about our subject along the way.

Our meetings each have a “theme”, which have included a “Wine and Film Quiz”, “Don’t turn up your Nosé at Rosé”, “Wine Memories” and a focus on particular countries or grape varieties.

Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, starting at 7pm and we also hold occasional outings for wine tastings and restaurant meals, with an emphasis on matching the wine and food of particular countries.

We have 2 “everybody together” social get-togethers a year now with 'Wine Group 2 which allows the groups to mingle. Occasional outings, such as Tapas at a local restaurant, also give chances to mix.
