Singing for Fun

Status:Active, open to new members
When: Fortnightly on Tuesday afternoons 2:00 pm
1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month
Venue: Honiton Family Church

Singing for Fun! meets in Honiton Family Church, with its great acoustic and lovely piano, on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 2.00pm for an hour of fun whilst learning to sing a wide variety of songs. There’s no need to read music and everyone is welcome. We add our own three words to u3a’s “Learn, Live, Laugh.” These are “Fun, Achievable, Success.”

Songs are introduced aurally and are often sung without printed words or music but, where they are needed, these are slipped into colourful display folders.

Each group of sessions concludes with a round-up of our achievements, a Singsong for the Festive Season, a Spring Singsong and a Summer Singsong. Our musical diet consists of amusing warm-ups, folk songs, shanties, music hall songs and songs from films and musicals, World War One and from centuries past. Occasionally, we hope to share a session with another group. Every session is full of contrasts and the aim is that all participants should feel better when they leave than when they arrive. Making music together, particularly singing, has so many benefits for our wellbeing but, most of all, the sessions are fun! Do come and join us!
